Success Story
The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange Program was an amazing experience that made a positive difference in the lives of the Back-2-Basickz youth.
We were lucky to have Wichah and Nicola! Both connected well with our youth and became a big part of our team. They helped out with different tasks within our programming such as doing admin work, creating games for the youth, and accompanying the youth on trips.
They brought so much positivity to our program and made a significant impact. Wichah and Nicola, you will be missed, and we hope to see you again soon! Thank you for all your hard work and the fun energy you brought to our group.

Staff Spotlight
![]() | Hi, I am Carlotta! I am a Youth Outreach Worker at Back-2-Basic Youth Support Services. I focus on supporting young people in the Scarborough and Jane-Finch communities. My role involves connecting with youth, helping them navigate challenges, and offering the tools and resources they need to thrive. As I always say, “no limits, no boundaries, sky is the limit.” you could achieve anything you set your mind to. |
Monthly highlight
A heartfelt thank you to our BYOU partner Wendy LaRose, Executive Director of CTO Child and Youth Services, for generously providing some of our youth with tickets to experience a day of fun at Canada's Wonderland! Her kindness gave one of our youth from Back-2-Basickz the incredible opportunity to visit Wonderland for the first time. It was a day filled with excitement, new adventures, and unforgettable memories. This outing brought smiles to our youth faces and allowed them to create a special moment that will be cherished for years to come. Thank you, Wendy, for making such a meaningful impact! | ![]() |
Connecting our Youth!
![]() | Our Back-2-Basickz youth from the Scarborough location had an amazing time connecting with the youth from the Gaming Program at our Jane & Finch site! They attended a lively circus event in Thornhill where they shared in the excitement of jaw-dropping performances and thrilling acts. It was wonderful to witness both groups of youth come together, and laugh, bond, and enjoy this experience. This outing not only gave them a chance to step outside their regular programming spaces, but helped them building meaningful relationships. This event was a perfect example of how shared experiences can foster lasting connections between our youth. |
