Spring: A Season of Growth and New Beginnings

![]() Amanda Coombs, Executive Director, Back2Basickz Youth Support Services | Dear Back 2 Basickz Family, March is here, bringing with it spring. And just as the spring season ushers in new growth and beginnings, Back 2 Basickz also welcomes new opportunities for growth, learning, and renewal. At Back 2 Basickz, we are excited to embrace the season with fresh workshops, programs, and initiatives designed to empower, grow and uplift our youth. This month, we’re introducing engaging workshops focused on personal development, career exploration, and wellness. With longer days and brighter skies, it’s the perfect time for young minds to blossom and take steps toward their future. From March 4th to 10th, we recognize Black Mental Health Week, a time to shed light on the unique mental health challenges Black communities face and break the stigma around seeking support. At Back 2 Basickz, we know that mental well-being is just as important as physical health—especially for our youth. This month, we’re creating safe spaces for young people to explore conversations about mental health, self-care, and emotional resilience. Through workshops and discussions, we’ll focus on healing, strength, and community support, ensuring our youth feel seen, heard, and empowered. Stay tuned and visit out social media to stay connected and sign up for upcoming events, mentorship opportunities, and ways to get involved. Let’s grow together this season and make the most of these new beginnings! Warmest regards, Amanda Coombs Executive Director Back 2 Basickz |

Our March Shout Out is a special one with even more importance because of International Women’s Day!
This International Women’s Day (March 8th), we honour the strength, resilience, and achievements of women in our community and beyond. From mentors to mothers, leaders to friends, women inspire change and shape the future every day. At Back 2 Basickz, we stand in solidarity with the young women we support, empowering them to dream big and break barriers.
Let’s continue to uplift and celebrate the incredible women in our lives—not just today, but every day! To coincide with international Women’s Day, our B2B shoutout goes out to Ngozi, a dedicated volunteer at Back 2 Basickz!
Ngozi is always ready to show up, step in, and assist in any capacity. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help make a difference in the lives of our youth and the entire Back 2 Basickz community. Whether it’s lending a hand at events, supporting workshops, or simply being there when needed, Ngozi consistently rises to the occasion with a heart full of compassion.
Thank you, Ngozi, for all that you do! Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are beyond grateful to have you as part of our team.
